Meet the NO Squad's Sister Squadron! |
Sadly, it's true, Karma is leaving the CFS community.
Dear Friends and Squadmates, I am taking a leave of CFS to a different place and I really don't intend to return . I just wanted to tell all my friends out there that I really have enjoyed the time we spent online together. Thank you for your friendship I won't forget it any time soon. I want to thank all the guys in this squad for winging me and watching out for me, I salute you all, your a great bunch of guys, I wish you well in your adventures over Europe. I'm sure the NO's will remain a great squad within CFS and I'm really sad I won't be there to see it. I don't have the same enthusiasm I once had for the game. It's to hard for me to continue flying at such a reduced level and continue on the path I've created. It's not just this Sim either, I 've bounced around between simulations for almost a year now with the same result, loss of interest along with whatever killer instict I may have had. This of course translates into a pilot who can't kill and my desire to win is to great to allow myself continual losses in the game. I started out in a sim called Flying Circus where i became one of the top pilots and leader of a 62 member squadron. Since the arena was of the type that all players flew at the same time, it was imperative that squadrons had wings and within those wings, leaders were expected to keep the airman alive by making correct descisions as to tactics and offensive deployment of their pilots. As leader of all these wings, we had 8 total, each containing 8 pilots and craft, I was the person that kept them all alive the best I could. It was quite a site when our squad took to the air and for a year we were a dominant force within that sim. Unfortunately the game was in beta at that time which meant it was a free play for all who desired it. Then the day everyone knew would come happened and the owners of the game began to charge for the service. This decimated most of the squads there and hit ours particularly hard. I'm afraid it also hit me pretty hard as well. Most of the pilots I had trained along with the wing leaders and I became very close to them. Most were like family to me, going even so far as to know their wives and children. Try as I might I couldn't hold the squad together anymore and the decision was made to migrate to Air Warrior 3. I had fun there at first even gaining the number 32 fighter pilot in the entire arena of over 1000 at any one time, but I never gave up the memories of the others that were leftbehind or the sim I loved so much. I bounced around after my AW3 membership lapsed until I happened upon CFS. When I started there it was exciting again to be involved in a brand new game with new people joining on a daily basis. I had high hopes for CFS, I was meeting new people everyday and helping to start this squad was even more exciting. Unfortunately, CFS has not become the sim I had invisioned it to be. I miss the excitement of the hunt and long to fly at 32,000 ft again. If you haven't experienced breaking through the cloud layer and into the brilliant sunshine that lies above 35,000 ft you don't have any idea what your missing or to swoop laterally across a gunned B-17 strafing it's wingspan and watching flames burst from it's 3 and 4 engines while it's crew of 6 tries desperately to shoot you down you haven't really lived the WW2 experience. The exhileration you get as you turn about and line up on the chutes of the crew that just abandoned the ailing Buff and hearing them scream as their chutes catch fire from your ammmo hits. That's the thing that CFS will never be able to duplicate and it's only the tip of the iceberg. The rush you get landing on the Yorktown while enemy Zero's strafe to protect the wing of Kates carrying torpedeos aimed at the carrier's belly is fantastic. I wish I could take you all there for a day and let you experience the things I have. I have been approached by the founders of my old squadron to help them bring back the membership and build the respectable image that once was there. I was informed that since my retirement they have suffered numerous losses and have had a number of pilots break off from the group, starting a new squad in the process. The Duckwing Squad is dieing a slow death and they've asked me to come back to try and fix the damage. I would like to take the oppertunity to extend an invitation to my friends and all my squad mates here to join me there. The cost is minimal (10 dollars per month) and I could use any help I could get. Besides the things i've described above there are almost 50 different fighters and bombers to fly there and when you sign on there you will have a purpose or goal so to speak, which is to capture enemy bases. If you've never flown in a B-17 lower turret you need to plop down 10 bucks for the experience. With built in vox for voice communication you will talk real time with the other 5 people in your aircraft as well as the fighters that escort you! It's worth a two fins just to experience it. I will miss you all while I'm gone and I can't guarentee I will return to fight here any time soon but I swear you will all be on my mind. For any of you that choose to accompany me I promise you a fantastic experience one you won't soon forget. I wasn't going to tell you why I was leaving but after a night of thinking about it, I thought you all had a right to know and understand the reasons behind it. I will maintain my membership here with the NO's if no one has any objections as well as maintain this website If it's ok with you guys I would like to link the Duckwings to the Night Owls as a sister squad and share the web space we have left. I think it would benefit everyone involved. It will take about a week for me to activate my account at Air Warrior3 so in that time I'd like to fly with all of you if possible Salute! my friends! I've included links below to the the my old squadron and to the home page for Flying Circus if any of you are interested in seeing some of my past. Goodbye Everbody for now but not forever!
